How do I prepare for an Estate Sale?

What is an Estate sale?

An Estate sale is a great option liquidate lots of household items and collections, all at the same time. The sale would last for three days (Fri-Sun) The items are professionally displayed, advertised and priced for you. Myself and My Staff advertise, and hold the Estate Sale. There are many key points to consider when having an Estate Sale, that may be confusing or troublesome to think about. We have plenty of experience, and know how to handle almost any senario or circumstance. We would love to meet with you to discuss your specific needs and situation.

How do I prepare for the initial consult?

First, and most important- do not throw anything away! We mean, literally, nothing! Old towels, linens, clothing, household cleaners, toys, magazines, dishes and things that may seem like junk or clutter, could be valuable! It seems like something out of a TV show, a record worth thousands, or an old teapot fetching hundreds of dollars! It happens, and our trained eyes are able to spot rare, desirable, and collectible items. Even those old cleaners, and Tupperware can add up to some serious money, besides, Estate Sales are known for having the ENTIRE home priced to sell. It is what the Estate Sale shoppers expect to find at your sale!

Second, Have each person legally responsible to make decisions attend the meeting, either in person or on the phone. Have any relative paperwork handy, in case the Estate Broker would like to review them.

Third, have an idea of what items the family is keeping. Your Estate Broker won't know what advice to relay to you if you don't know, at least a general idea of what stays and what is for sale.

How long does it take to set up a sale, and what all do you sell?

As far as timing, It depends on several factors; How big the home is, how many items we need to clean or research, how much organizing there is, and how much garbage removal, and the amount of advertising the Estate Broker recommends for your sale. Organizing, cleaning and rearranging the Estate won't change our set up time. Oftentimes, rearranging makes the setup take longer. So please, leave everything as it is. We prefer it that way!

We SELL EVERYTHING! The more the better! We specialize in art, antiques, and collectibles. We have sold everything from farm tractors, limousines, rare guitar collections, Japanese antique collections, coin and firearm collections, all the way down to grandmas old kitchenware, the contents of a junk drawer, old clothing, and barns full of homesteading items.
